FREE CRWA Funded Training and Technical Class – Regulatory Roundup

2025 Schedule
January 16, 2025: Sacramento (Sacramento County): CRWA Training Headquarters, 1234 N. Market Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95834

Workshop presented by California Rural Water Association

Information about this course:
Manganese has been on the US-EPA Candidate Contaminant List since 1998. Manganese is listed as a secondary contaminant for aesthetic reasons in drinking water because it can stain bathroom fixtures, clothing, and plates on process equipment. However, health effects are especially a concern for children under 2 years old. This has resulted in a new Primary MCL in Canada in 2019 and many US states have implemented a limit for Manganese in drinking water to protect sensitive populations. This talk will discuss where manganese is found, how it gets into drinking water, what the health effects of sensitive populations are, and how manganese can be removed from groundwater. Legacy treatment processes will be compared to newer catalytic filter media system designs both in the simplicity of design and in the overall economics of constructing a new treatment plant.
Schedule: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
