Preferred Provider Spotlight: Resource Monitor

Resource Monitor is a water-monitoring and metering platform built specifically for small and rural water operators. The platform helps field operators detect leaks in hours instead of weeks, eliminate manual meter reads, and monitor wells, pressure zones, and distribution assets in real time — all from one dashboard. For office staff, Resource Monitor automates data exports directly to billing systems like Tyler, Edmunds, and OpenGov, offers a customer portal that reduces billing complaint calls, and simplifies regulatory reporting. Your customers get access to a user-friendly portal that shows their individual usage aligned with your system’s billing cycle, helping you reduce customer complaints and confusion. The result: fewer surprises, fewer emergencies, and hours of labor saved every month.

Resource Monitor’s hardware installs in minutes with no wiring, solar panels, or gateways — just a wrench and a QR code scan. Batteries last 10 years. And for systems with existing meters already in the ground, Resource Monitor’s Adapter technology makes them smart without a costly rip-and-replace. Systems can start with just a few meters on their most critical monitoring points and scale over time, deploying in days, not months, as an operational expense rather than a capital project requiring a bond vote.

Through the CRWA Preferred Provider Program: CRWA members receive an exclusive 5% hardware discount applied on top of standard volume-based pricing, plus accelerated software and service pricing tiers that deliver meaningful cost reductions regardless of system size. Members also receive free onboarding and system configuration, a free 60-day pilot program, CEU-eligible training webinars, billing system integration support, priority scheduling, and flexible procurement options including subscription and Hardware-as-a-Service models. Resource Monitor also collaborates with member utilities to identify grant and financing opportunities tailored to each system’s needs. And when you have a question, you talk to a person — not a chatbot.

CRWA Preferred Provider Program

The California Rural Water Association (CRWA) continues to expand its Preferred Provider Program, which connects members with vetted service providers offering essential services such as laboratory testing, leak detection, online payment solutions, legal services, rate studies, and consulting.

Currently, 13 providers actively participate in the program, each meeting CRWA’s high standards of professionalism. This includes maintaining Associate Member status in good standing, advertising in the California Water Journal, and exhibiting at the CRWA Annual Expo. In addition to these requirements, prospective providers must submit a formal RFP detailing their services, pricing structure, and proof of liability insurance.

CRWA supports Preferred Providers through free marketing, email campaigns, social media promotion, and workshop coordination. CRWA also encourages all staff from both CRWA and SUSP (Operations and Engineering) to recommend the Preferred Provider Program to systems whenever possible. By recommending the Preferred Provider Program, CRWA staff not only help CRWA members but also the association.
