Workshop presented by California Rural Water Association Workforce Development

Information about this course:
California Rural Water Association (CRWA), is proud to be able to bring you a Chlorine Disinfection class.

Chlorine disinfection is a critical component of water and wastewater treatment, involving a complex series of chemical and biological reactions that directly impact system effectiveness and public health protection. The performance of chlorine as a disinfectant is influenced by multiple factors including the presence of chlorine-reactive materials, temperature, pH levels, organism viability, and the type and concentration of interfering substances.

This six-hour course provides an in-depth exploration of the principles and reactions involved in chlorine disinfection. Participants will gain a clear understanding of chlorine chemistry, demand and residual relationships, breakpoint chlorination, and operational considerations that affect treatment efficiency. The course also reviews practical applications, monitoring techniques, troubleshooting strategies, and regulatory considerations to help operators optimize disinfection performance and maintain compliance.

This training is ideal for water and wastewater professionals seeking to strengthen their technical knowledge, improve operational decision-making, and enhance system reliability and safety.

Schedule: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
