California Pines Community Services District Wins Bronze for Best Tasting Water!

Bronze Medal for Best Tasting.

California Rural Water Association
Sacramento, CA – February 10, 2020

We are delighted to announce that California Pines Community Services District of Alturas California has medaled in the National Rural Water Association’s (NRWA) Great American Water Taste Test. NRWA recently held its 21st annual water taste test in Washington D.C. on February 5, 2020 as part of the Rural Water Rally.

State Rural Water Associations from 37 states submitted their best tasting water to be judged. Judges included water experts Edna Primrose, Assistant Administrator, USDA Rural Development Office of Water & Environment Programs; Diane Nellor, Clerk of the Senate Appropriation Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; and Morgan Ulmer, Clerk of the Senate Appropriation Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.

The water entries were tasted by multiple judges and evaluated on clarity, bouquet and taste. Five finalists were selected from the 37 state entrants and the top three were announced before a packed banquet room of over 300 people.

North Marshall Water District of Kentucky took the first-place award, followed by Mapleturn Utilities of Indiana and Jenkensville Water Company of South Carolina who tied for the Silver Medal. The final Bronze Medal went to California Pines Community Services District from Alturas, California.

California is no stranger to earning the title of one of the best tasting waters. City of Mt. Shasta won the bronze back in 2007.

Congratulations and thank to the water utilities and operators who make our water not only safe, but award winningly delicious.
